Values

Community's values

  • trying to be as simple as possible
  • democratic AND professional decision-making: in voting the differences in scientific grounding are compensated by using weights (a psychology research professor's or a senior clinical psychologist's vote counts many times more than a layman's)
  • openness towards:
    • researchers to practitioners
    • science to laymen
  • listening carefully to hear what are the interests of the users of our science
  • if with 10% more investment 80% more people understand us, we should go for it: so, if scientific terms help to be more clear, please use it, but please do not prefer the language of science against the everyday communication just to appear more professional
  • believing that communities
    • are more creative than single people
    • are wise
    • can improve the performance of their members
  • developing a new communication form:
    • editable figures that tells you more than tens of paragraphs
    • web 2.0 offering interactive editing, commenting and blogging is an excellent tool for co-operation
    • computers and internet makes able what black & white journals never: to communicate to each other by multimedia. You can upload a Statement or comment in a video format, presentation or speech (audio-file). Use the channel that fits you best and you hope that can reach most people. But please follow the same advices as in written format (see present document and article for more details)
